Using symbolism, Rawat Vongla depicts a Buddha's hand gesture called Vitarka Mudra. The palm faces outwards and a circle is made with the thumb and index, while the other fingers point upwards. It is a peaceful gesture that symbolizes teaching, giving instruction and reason. In the background turn several Dharmachakra, or Wheel of Dharma, which is a symbol representing the Buddha's teaching of the path to enlightenment.
Rawat paint the scene with acrylics. He signs and writes his name in Thai at the bottom of the painting.

About the Artist:
This painting was made by Rawat Vongla. The artist was born in Udon Thani, in north-east Thailand. He studied Art and later Design. He graduated with a master degree from Rajamangala University of Technology in Chiang Mai. He has exhibited his artworks several times in Thailand and received 4 awards.
