A naïf painting by Akha artist Buesui. She explains her work: "A young woman is giving birth. Her baby cries in pain and her own suffering is unbearable. Little angels flutter around them, trying and appease their suffering with kind words and celestial presents. Life could be testing at times. These difficult moments are true reminders of our real character."

About the Artist:
This naïf painting was made by artist Buesui Arjoh. Buesui is an Akha minority woman who grew up in a small village on the hillsides of northern Thailand. She started drawing with clay, wood ash and charcoal when she was 7 years old. She later studied art and colors with teacher Sayarm Puengudom.
