Description:

With serene features, a Buddha meditates in the darkness. Bodhi tree leaves fall off and white lotuses rise from nothingness. The Bodhi Tree was a large and old pipal (a variety of fig) tree, under which Buddha achieved enlightenment while meditating. The white lotus flower refers to total purity of the mind and spiritual perfection. "Religious and devout people often hide dark sides behind the principles of Buddhism," says artist Pairote Sitthikaew. "Even though this Buddha's face appears serene, his head is covered with an evil headdress and a demon is about to spring from his nose." The artist signed and painted this symbolic painting in 2012.
