About the Artisan:

This item was made by Nui Lalita. She was born into a Lisu family—the Lisu are one of the hill tribes of Southeast Asia—in Chiang Rai on the 1st of January 1984. She is married and has one daughter.

"We live very simply, keeping our expenses down, saving for our daughter's education and for the new life [Nui is expecting a new baby] coming into our family. Though we have to work very hard and struggle to save, we are reasonably content. Sometimes we can go back to my village, see my parents and join in festivals," says Nui.

At the moment, she stays and crafts her items with her husband in Chiang Mai. She designs and makes small products as well as shoulder bags and other larger things.
